At the end of August, a concert “Angāra saulrieti” will take place in support of schoolchildren in Latvia and Ukraine

The organization Tavi Draugi invites you to the final charity concert of this summer, “Angāra saulrieti,” on Wednesday, August 28, starting at 6:00 PM. The concert will take place in Riga, at Ventspils Street 50. The event will feature performances by the bands “Citi zēni,” Atvara, Katrīna Dimanta and “Zeltrači,” “Rīta stienis,” as well as DJ Ķilkuts. Admission to the event is by financial donations to support schoolchildren in Latvia and Ukraine.

Concert attendees are also encouraged to bring material donations that will be useful for schoolchildren in Latvia and Ukraine, such as backpacks, school supplies, children and teenager shoes to be changed indoors, sports shoes, clothing, and sportswear.

“With the new school year approaching, we are receiving many requests for help from Ukraine, where students are preparing to start school despite the war conditions, as well as requests from schools and needy families here in Latvia. Therefore, together with the musicians, we invite people to attend the concert, doing a good deed while helping the organization Tavi Draugi to help others,” says Beāte Bēvalde, a representative of Tavi Draugi.

Part of the funds raised at the concert will be directed toward the creation of a children’s playground at Aleksandrova Primary School. This institution, founded by the Krāslava municipality, serves about 90 children of different ages in a special education program for students with intellectual disabilities. The organization Tavi Draugi supports the school with deliveries of food, clothing, hygiene, and household goods while simultaneously raising funds for the creation of a safe, beautiful, and functional children’s playground suitable for children of different ages, including those with special needs.

Visitors to the “Angāra saulrieti” concert will also have the opportunity to participate in a camouflage net weaving workshop led by volunteers from Tavi Draugi. For the youngest visitors, attractions will be provided by “Smaidu darbnīca” and Getparty.lv. During the concert, there will be a café, a charity book stall, a Tavi Draugi” design line shop where Latvian and Ukrainian-themed souvenirs can be purchased for donations, and a Tavi Draugi” charity shop.

The organization Tavi Draugi began the series of charity concerts “Angāra saulrieti” in the summer of 2023 with the aim of raising funds to support Ukraine. At the three charity concerts held last year, nearly €29,000 and hundreds of useful items and products for Ukrainian soldiers, civilians, and their four-legged friends were collected. As part of the concert series, performances dedicated to Ukraine were given by “Laika upe,” “Singapūras satīns,” Intars Busulis and “Abonementa orķestris,” “Very Cool People,” Elza Rozentāle, “Queentesence,” Rihards Saule, “Mazais Princis,” and DAGAMBA. This year, at the end of July, the first “Angāra saulrieti” concert took place with performances by “Astro’n’out” and MUUD. During the concert, approximately €4,000 was raised for the purchase of materials needed to weave camouflage nets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Photos from the event are available here.
