On Ukraine’s Independence Day, a support march called “The Sunflower Path” will take place

The charity organization Tavi Draugi, together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia, is once again organizing the now-traditional “Sunflower Path” march this year on August 24th, Ukraine’s Independence Day. The march will begin at 11:30 AM at the Freedom Monument and proceed to Vērmane Garden.

The organization Tavi Draugi has been organizing the “Sunflower Path” for three years in a row, inviting all Latvian residents and Ukrainians living in Latvia to join. The march is dedicated to Ukraine’s tireless fight for freedom and to every Ukrainian civilian in Latvia. Participants are encouraged to show their support for Ukraine by carrying sunflowers and Ukrainian symbols.

Gathering for the “Sunflower Path” will begin at 11:00 AM at the Freedom Monument. The march will be officially opened at 11:30 AM by the head of the Tavi Draugi organization, Ulvis Noviks, and representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia, along with the National Armed Forces Headquarters Orchestra, led by Captain-Lieutenant Guntis Kumačevs. The attendees will also be addressed by Tatiyana Chirkova, a war refugee and volunteer of the Tavi Draugi organization.

“With the ‘Sunflower Path’ march, we aim to symbolically honor Ukraine and the resilient, unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian people. We invite everyone to join us and dedicate 30 minutes to collectively show that we are united and continue to support Ukraine until victory,” says Ulvis Noviks, the head of the Tavi Draugi organization.

Participants will march to Vērmane Garden, where, starting at 12:00 PM, an event and concert titled “United for Ukraine,” dedicated to Ukraine’s Independence Day, will take place. During the event, the Tavi Draugi design line store will be open, and a mobile donation point will be available. Visitors will have the opportunity to support Ukraine by donating school supplies for students, as well as necessary items for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: tea, sweets, nuts and dried fruits, meat and fish preserves, hygiene products, and men’s clothing (socks, underwear, T-shirts). The Tavi Draugi organization, with the help of partner organizations, will deliver the donations to Ukraine and to soldiers on the front lines.
