The association “Tavi draugi” invites you to the charity event “Christmas in the Hangar”
The association “Tavi draugi” invites everyone to visit the charity event “Christmas in the Hangar,” which will take place on Sunday, December 15, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Ventspils Street 50, K-3, Riga. Entrance to “Christmas in the Hangar” is free.
The event’s program includes various activities for both children and adults, as well as musical performances. At 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM, talented singers from the Jūrmala Music Secondary School under the direction of Irēna Andersone and students of the Riga Talent Music School led by Tamāra Rimkeviča will perform. At 3:00 PM, the mixed Latvian-Ukrainian choir of the association “Tavi draugi” will take the stage.
The youngest visitors can meet Santa Claus and join their parents in themed creative workshops, making holiday decorations and other crafts. During the event, visitors can purchase Latvian and Ukrainian-made gifts and items, as well as unique Christmas trees donated by “Latvijas Valsts meži” (limited quantity) in exchange for donations. A photo corner and snack trailer will also be available.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see the charity campaign truck “Christmas Express Latvia – Ukraine” and hand over gifts for Ukrainian children. As part of the “Christmas Express Latvia – Ukraine” campaign, residents of Latvia are invited to become elves and prepare Christmas gifts for children in Ukraine until the end of December. This year, 236 letters to Santa Claus have been received from children at the Khmelnytsky Crisis Center and Novabikovka Secondary School. You can read the letters and children’s wishes here.
Donors are also encouraged to help fulfill the wishes of Latvian families and bring joy to those in need with practical and thoughtful gifts. Latvian wishes can be found here.
The association “Tavi draugi” also calls for donations of winter clothing and footwear for adults and children, long-lasting food items like canned goods and instant meals, power banks, generators, and other essential items for Ukrainian civilians during the winter season. For Ukrainian soldiers, chemical body warmers, thermal socks and underwear, winter gloves and hats in neutral tones, as well as sleeping bags for winter conditions, will be especially helpful.
The “Christmas Express Latvia – Ukraine” with gifts for children and other donations, led by volunteers from the association “Tavi draugi,” will depart for Ukraine in early January 2025.
