Continuing the Building Renovation Project in the Chernihiv Region in 2025

To support Ukraine in mitigating the consequences of Russia’s invasion, the organization Tavi Draugi continues implementing the project “Renovation of the Novobikovska Secondary School and the Pediatric Department Building of the Chernihiv Regional Primary Health and Social Care Center” in 2025. The project is scheduled for completion by July 31, 2025, with a total budget of €1,194,270, funded by the Latvian government.

As part of the project, renovation work will be carried out on both the interior and exterior facades of the Novobikovska Secondary School building and the Pediatric Department of the Chernihiv Regional Primary Health and Social Care Center.

From January 3 to 12, representatives of the organization visited the Chernihiv region in Ukraine to meet with local authorities and sign cooperation agreements with representatives of the Novobikovska Secondary School and the Chernihiv Regional Primary Health and Social Care Center.

Additionally, a meeting was held with representatives of a Ukrainian legal office that is providing legal services to “Tavi draugi”. Discussions focused on further cooperation, and an agreement was signed to extend legal services until July 31, 2025.

During the visit, we also visited the Latvian Embassy in Ukraine to discuss the project’s progress.

In Chernihiv, we met with the Governor of the Chernihiv region, Vyacheslav Chaus, to review the project’s progress and receive valuable recommendations for improving its quality.

Currently, work is underway on document preparation and coordination for procurement tenders to select construction companies in Ukraine.

Latvia’s support in restoring healthcare and educational institutions in the Chernihiv region is crucial, as it will help residents access essential healthcare services, especially for children. It will also ensure the continuity of general and vocational education, enabling residents to maintain as much normalcy as possible in their daily lives. Moreover, children and young people will be able to acquire essential knowledge and skills for their future careers.

The project is implemented using the state budget funds of the Republic of Latvia, with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ĀM) and the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFLA).
