Creative lesson series “Your story is my story” for Latvian and Ukrainian children

The charity organization “Tavi draugi” will organize a series of creative and developmental activities for Latvian and Ukrainian children aged 7 to 12 as part of the project “Your Story is My Story” this March. Over four days, from March 11 to March 15, 2025, participants will have the opportunity to explore their emotions, engage in creative activities, make new friends, build self-confidence, discover new talents, and showcase them to others.

Participants of “Your Story is My Story” will learn the basics of stage speech and improvisation, take part in animation masterclasses, and surprise their parents and friends with a special performance at the end of the project. They will also share their knowledge in a fun quiz about Latvia.

Participation in the “Your Story is My Story” activity cycle is free of charge, but prior registration is required by March 3, 2025, by filling out the application form at ej.uz/tavsmansstasts. The number of participants is limited, so priority will be given to those who register first.

Renāte Grundštoka, representative of the organization “Tavi draugi” and project manager of “Your Story is My Story”, emphasizes: “The project activities will give children the opportunity to explore the world, their emotions, and talents, develop their abilities, meet peers, overcome fears, and express their creativity. The project is designed to balance individual performance—sharing a personal story and creating an animated character—with group work, which involves developing and presenting a collective memory story in a final performance. We expect that the skills and experiences gained during the sessions will serve as a valuable foundation for participants’ future growth. Additionally, this will help bridge potential barriers between Latvian and Ukrainian children, fostering cooperation and unity while encouraging the use of the Latvian language in an informal setting.”

Meanwhile, invited friends and parents attending the final performance will witness how courageous and uniquely talented all the project participants are.

The project is financially supported by the Society Integration Fund, using funds allocated from the Latvian state budget. About “Tavi draugi”

The organization “Tavi draugi” provides coordinated humanitarian aid to Ukrainian civilians in both Latvia and Ukraine, organizing and facilitating the voluntary involvement of Latvian residents, organizations, and businesses in aid efforts. Prior to the full-scale war, the organization supported families in need or facing difficulties in Latvia. However, since the first day of the war, the focus has swiftly shifted to providing assistance to Ukraine. This includes support for Ukrainian war refugees at Latvia–Russia border checkpoints.

The organization continues to support Latvian residents in distress and provides crisis assistance upon request. More information about the organization’s projects and donation opportunities is available here.
