Project Initiators
We are a group of passionate enthusiasts who have come together to revive the historic Winter Garden in Riga, once a part of Cafe de Paris. The project is led by Māris Krasņikovs, an experienced entrepreneur with extensive knowledge in marketing and digital solutions. Our goal is to preserve and restore this significant cultural heritage site, making it accessible to the public. Although we are not professional historians or architects, our dedication and respect for Riga’s history are our greatest strengths. Together, we are working to make the Winter Garden a place where everyone can explore and understand Riga’s rich history.
Support the restoration of the Winter Garden – let’s preserve Riga’s history and strengthen our community’s identity!
The Winter Garden, located in the historic building on Kr. Barona Street, is a significant cultural heritage site in Riga, carrying a rich historical legacy of our city’s development and growth. This place, which played a crucial role in Riga’s social and cultural life in the early 20th century, is an essential part of our collective identity.
Over time, this historic site has suffered and now requires our attention and care to preserve and restore it. By restoring the Winter Garden, we will not only revive this cultural gem but also enhance the public’s understanding of our shared history, helping to strengthen social pride and identity.
What Do We Want to Achieve?
The restoration of the Winter Garden into a modern cultural and community center, where events, exhibitions, and educational projects will be organized, providing a deeper understanding of Riga’s and Latvia’s history. This place will serve as a bridge between the past and the future, offering the community an opportunity not only to learn more about their cultural heritage but also to take pride in it.
Your donations and support are essential for us to realize this important project. Every contribution will help preserve our cultural heritage and create a place where future generations can learn, be inspired, and explore their history.
We’ve Already Started!
We are actively working on the restoration of the Winter Garden, and as the first step, we have organized an art exhibition that will take place on August 27, 2024. The exhibition will feature works by the renowned artist Mike Saijo, created specifically for this event. The exhibition aims to raise funds for the restoration and preservation of the Winter Garden as a cultural site, and we invite everyone to participate in this unique event.
Additional Opportunity to Support!
All proceeds from the sale of Mike Saijo’s artworks will also be added to the donated funds and used for the restoration of the Winter Garden. This is an opportunity to acquire a unique piece of art while simultaneously contributing to the preservation of Riga’s history.
Join our efforts and become a part of Riga’s history preservation so that together we can strengthen our community’s identity and pride. Together, we can ensure that the Winter Garden becomes a place that inspires and educates our society!
